SAFETY
The Occupational Health & Safety Act 2000 and OHS Regulations 2001 have recently been enacted to improve work site safety in New South Wales . The onus of the legislation is now upon the Building Owners and Managers alike to ensure all workers and sub-contractors comply with the regulations. At all times The QVS Group, including QVS Services & QVS Property Maintenance have workplace safety procedures in place complying with all of the statutory requirements and relevant standards. All Project Manager’s, site staff and sub-contractor’s have Occupational Health & Safety green cards.
For all works deemed ‘moderately’ dangerous (or where requested), QVS provide you with a Work Method Statement, identifying the job, the hazards that can cause harm and describes the work procedures associated with each of the hazards recorded, minimizing risk. OHS Regulations 2001 also requires a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to compliment the work method statement where ‘high-risk’ work is identified, (eg. a fall height of more than 3m). QVS will provide these as required.
For all hazardous substances, a Material Safety Data Sheet can be provided.
The QVS Group Safety Policy contains a copy of a generic safe work method statement and an example of a trade specific (carpentry) safe work method statement. Work method statements pertaining to specific jobs should be retained by you for future reference should you need to produce same to a WorkCover Inspector.
